S&S Shortline

It was truly awesome. The little locomotive on our train was a real steam engine with a boiler, a 12"
coal shovel and little tiny chunks of coal. We had soot all over us from the real smokestack. It started raining a little during our ride so the train in front of us needed a push from our train, which eventually caused our locomotive to derail - on a bridge! - but it's not as scary as that sounds. The engineer and his sons had to use levers and lots of muscle to get the engine back on the track and one guy burned his shoulder on the real smokestack. This video shows the moment of derailment. Does the engineer look frustrated? He is.
This is the train shop which had ever tool you could imagine and lots of very small parts.

We tried miniature golf, but Ikey and Jovie liked running through the course more than hitting a golf ball.

These are extra cars in the rail yard; lots of little John Deere tractors.

This is the derailed steam engine in front of us.
The kids cranked themselves around a little track in handcars.
