We had such a great time when we snowmobiled through the park this winter, that we wanted to bring the kids this spring.
This is Gibbon River and Gibbon Falls.
We hiked in the rain to Inspiration Point. |
Ikey says that Grand Prismatic was his favorite feature.
We went looking for bears since they were all hibernating during the adults' trip to Yellowstone in the winter. We found a lot of bears this time and we stayed really far away.
Ikey is balancing a little bear on his finger. |
My favorite thing was the hike on Uncle Tom's Trail.
You get a great view of Lower Yellowstone Falls from the trail. |
The weather was beautiful, in a rainy and chilly way. It made everything so dramatic.
Ikey's switched over from smiles to just making weird faces. |
We stayed for one night at Lake Yellowstone Hotel. We fell in love with it when we saw it this winter, and we would have loved to stay for a month.
The kids waded right in to the chilly lake with their coats on. |
We headed to our next stop, Old Faithful Inn, and arrived just in time to see it erupt. We were committed to watching it erupt as many times as possible since we only saw it once last time. We probably watched it six times, from the boardwalk and from a couple of decks at the Inn.
We stayed in a room in the old house portion of the Old Faithful Inn. The grown ups loved it and the kids thought the new part might have been better. |
We hiked to Fairy Falls where we got a big bear scare, but it turned out ok.
We were dissuaded from doing hikes twice because bison were parked out on the trail. This is about as close as we would get to the hairy beasts.
Of course, when we drove out of the park, the bison came out to show us the way.
