S&S Shortline Railroad

This might be our favorite train activity. The little railroad park is open only five days a year, and it's so fun! We started out the day with an early soccer game. Ikey seems to have peaked early in the season, but I promised him an RV toy if he makes another goal, so keep your fingers crossed.
After the game, we headed up to Farmington with OUR fingers crossed that the trains would be running, because the park doesn't have a website or a phone number or anything, so we were just guessing.

Hooray! It's open, and no one else knows so we have the whole place to ourselves.

This is the little train which goes on a 20 minute circuit. Our locomotive was a diesel engine this time, but they run real coal-fired steam engines later in the summer.

This is the big train ride which is about a 15 minute ride.

We brought lunches in lunch boxes. I wasn't sure if TB was coming until the last second so I didn't make lunches for the grownups because they kids usually leave behind enough food for me. TB was disappointed with that plan. And he was hungry.
The little handcar route is so cute! Ikey is a speed demon and Jovie was just out for a leisurely ride.

No surprise, he caught her every time. He's a skilled enough driver that he never did crash though.
We ran through the mini-golf course, played on the Casey Jr playground equipment, watched the model trains, and checked out all the great collections in the museum. The weather was beautiful and it was a really fun day. We dropped TB off at Mitch's house for his NBA adventure, and had dinner at the Training Table.
