We woke up at a regular time (7 am!) and said Happy New Year to each other. We headed up to Canyons at about 11 am to get another day in. The kids and I practiced riding the Cabriolet without TB because we'll have to do it for ski lessons next week. We can do it. No problem.
We wanted to try out the Sweet Pea magic carpet runs because Jovie will need to do it for ski lessons too.
She's a magic carpet natural. No problem.
On one of our runs, Jovie said, "Mmmmm. I'm hungry for steak."
Jovie skied more independently today, and crashed a few times. Lots of laughing and no tears!
After a bunch of runs on Sweet Pea, which is way too easy for Ikey, Jovie wanted to go on the ski lift with TB. Ikey said he wanted to stay with me for one more run on Sweet Pea. Before we could get going, he picked up a chunk of snow and threw it at me. He said, "This mother and son date is a lot more fun since it turned into a snowball fight!" Eager to accommodate this wish, we spent as much energy throwing snow at each other as we did skiing.
When we got home, Ikey said he wanted to have another snowball fight and go sledding around the yard with me and Jovie wanted to sit in the hot tub with TB. So we did that and it was really fun. We threw a few snowballs at the bathers. The snow in our yard is old and icy and the sled just flew around. Ikey almost ran into the fence more than once.
TB grilled up some steaks and roasted potatoes and cauliflower and the kids were in bed by 6:30 and it was a wonderful first day of the year.
