First ever ski vacation

We arrived in Cedar City just in time for dinner after we checked out four pioneer sites on our drive down. We ate at Pastry Pub, which is a student diner that wasn't there when I was a student.  My friend Curt visited us and conducted a lot of horseplay at the hotel pool with the kids. Ikey was really interested in his phone that had voice commands. He told me we were definitely getting one of those. We cuddled into our pretty nice accommodations at the Abbey Inn and slept in a little. The next morning, we ate everything they offered at the breakfast buffet and headed to the SUU campus to wander the halls.

The campus was so empty, and I was clueless until a facilities guy told us it was Spring Break. Oh yeah.

We headed up Parowan Canyon to ski at Brian Head, and this was our first time skiing away from our home resort. It was awesome! Brian Head isn't very big and there weren't very many people skiing anyway. The learning center is separate from the rest of the resort, and my kids were the youngest in the regular area by far. About twenty other skiers asked how young they are.

Ikey is very much into skiing through the trees. He'll even go uphill for the experience. The kids spent about ten minutes stuck in this little grove of trees because gravity wasn't helping. I bet they are the first people to ever try skiing that route. He only gave this up when I promised him we could find a "natural halfpipe".
We had a good lunch at the lodge and the kids struck up conversations at every table. He announced to everyone that we were looking for "one of those phones you just tell it what to do. We're going to get rid of this one and get one of those."
Mid-afternoon, we headed back down the canyon and located five more pioneer historical sites. It was a successful one day ski vacation between searching for a bunch of pioneer sites. We'd come back for sure!
