My sister-in-law, Doris, makes everything her family eats: bread, ketchup, salsa, jam, peanut butter, etc. I decided to jump on the bandwagon, so I've been using her white bread recipe and we haven't purchased bread for a month now. I've made cinnamon rolls a couple of times, and we tried cinnamon raisin swirl bread today.
Happy St. Patrick's Day! On Saturday, we dropped in on the St. Pat's parade at the Gateway. It was super chilly, but we got lots of compliments on our blankets.
We met Grandma Faucheux for the Utah Symphony performance of The History of Babar and Tyrannosaurus Sue. We had studied the music and books beforehand, so the concert was very enjoyable.
On the actual St. Pat's day, we had green food for breakfast and delivered some bread and hugs to Grandma Pat for her birthday. We cleaned up the house like madmen and hung up OPEN HOUSE signs to sell our house. About six groups came through. We were cooking a corned beef in the crockpot in the garage (my second time cooking a huge chunk of meat in one month!) and the garage was super smelly - in a good way if you like the smell of corned beef cooking. Right before the end of the open house, we started cutting up cabbage and onions. One last guy came in and he was totally cool with it. The food was good and festive. TB even got corned beef hash for breakfast, which is his favorite.
