Pioneer Museums in Millard County

TB was out of town, so we packed up the car with half of everything we own and took off for a trip south. First stop was the Territorial Statehouse in Fillmore in Millard County.
The plans for the state house were quite grand, but they only built this one wing in 1855 and then moved the seat of government back to Salt Lake City.
The building is really pretty, the tour guide was genuinely nice, and this was the best gift shop we've ever seen. We wanted to buy everything, but we ended up with a building set for a model buckboard and a pioneer bonnet.
We checked out the log cabin on the property and the old school house too.

Next stop was Meadow to see the Taysom Cabin built in 1866.

We peeked in the windows of the museum for the Sally Camp in Kanosh in Millard County. This is the tithing office building built in 1870. Since we were planning this trip on the fly, we weren't able to make appointments to get into the museums, so we missed the tours.
Next stop was Cove Fort in Millard County. I've driven between Salt Lake and southern Utah a million times and I've never stopped here. But now I have a goal of stopping everywhere, so we did it. It was super windy when we got out of the car, but we were met by a cheerful and earnest missionary lady who gave us the grand tour. There's a lot to see here!
The fort was built in 1867 and is 100 feet square. It's restored really beautifully.

There's a blacksmith shop and a barn outside the fort. These are the original fort doors, which are hollow now, but used to be filled with sand. They told us to come back for Cove Fort Days in August. We're a maybe on that one.
The kids looked out the "peepholes" then said "peephole" every ten minutes for the rest of the trip.
See that flat-topped cone-y mountain behind Jovie? That's an old cinder cone volcano.
