South Summit County Museums

The Wans were taking their turn at crashing the Faucheux's vacation in Park City, so we headed a half hour of out town along the beautiful drive around Jordanelle Reservoir to meet Miss Maxine at the Daughter of Utah Pioneers Francis Camp museum. It was a cold day and the building doesn't have heating or power so it was nice of her to accommodate my goal of visiting all the DUP museums. The kids found a rabbit in the field which was pretty exciting.
We picked out this pioneer house for my mom and dad to live in. They love pioneer houses more than you might think.

Next stop was the Kamas DUP Museum and the very kind Miss Kelly. Ikey asked her, "Want to smell my shoes?" His new crocs smell strongly of rubber. Miss Kelly didn't want to, but she was very friendly.
We listened to a record on the old Victorola.
We had a picnic lunch at the Park City City Park in front of the Miner's Hospital.
Miss Kelly told us there was a cool petrified log in the library in Park City, so we stopped to check it out. We didn't find the petrified log, but we did see a guinea pig.
The Kimball Art Center on Park City Main Street had a lego exhibit called "The Art of the Brick" which was very interesting to the kids.
We walked up main street and the kids asked for ice cream, but it was just a little too cold for that, not quite cold enough for hot chocolate.
We went to the Park City Museum on Main Street which is very cool. The kids loved the JAIL!
I thought the skier subway from the '60s was very cool. Imagine riding a vehicle through 2.5 miles of mining tunnel, then a mining elevator 1,800 feet up to the surface to ski back down again. It makes ski lifts seem kind of boring.
A scale model of a silver mine was very cool, and the kids got to set off dynamite in the mining section. Ikey spent the most time connecting phone calls at the switch board and Jovie started a movie about Sundance about a million times.
After all the museums, we went swimming at the hotel, then to dinner at El Chubasco.
