The Preschool Experiment is half over...

These faces are saying: Are you going to take pictures of us every time we go to school?
I am saying: Yes.
I volunteered in Jovie's preschool class today and I decided that she doesn't need to go to preschool any more. Her classmates were a little too crazy and her teacher seemed bored or overwhelmed. They didn't do anything in class that we don't/can't do at home. I think the only thing my precious will learn in 3-year-old preschool is bad behavior and half-hearted discipline and direction from the teacher. So Jovie will quit preschool at the end of this month. I'll just dress her up in her cute school clothes and work on worksheets in our dining room.

I've only been to Isaac's class during the open house, so I haven't seen his teacher or him in action in their normal routine. The teacher has told me after class twice that he needs to work on keeping his hands to himself and not bang into classmates when they stand in lines. So we are talking about KYHFOOTY (Kie-FOO-tee: Keep Your Hands Feet and Other Objects To Yourself) at home even more than we were before if that's possible. My good friend volunteered in Ikey's class today and she said, "Isaac isn't the worst kid in the class." So Isaac is one of the "crazy classmates" that the other moms are writing to other grandparents about. I think Ikey needs to stay in preschool and learn good behavior from Miss Terry who seems like an engaged and skilled teacher. I'm volunteering in his class next Thursday and I'll decide more then. For the good news, the assistant teacher said, "He's the smartest kid in class." Ikey can read just about any kids book and just about any sign you can find outside.  He is doing great work on the 1st grade workbook we bought at Costco. He is OVER THE TOP cheerful during our bike rides and walks to or from school. So he's smart and happy, he just needs to KYHFOOTY, which is something we already knew.

We went out to the garage to get on our bikes to ride to school this morning, and found that my front tire is flat with a thorn stuck in it. Ikey was so disappointed that his eyes welled up with tears. I'll have to be more careful where I steer that thing!
