I think high school drama and music productions are perfect for families with little kids. The tickets are always super cheap (this one was $3 for me and free for the little boy!) and the audience is forgiving if you're still working on your concert etiquette. This concert was especially fun for us because cousin Stormy was playing the bass trombone and Ikey got to sit by Aunt Shauna.
The concert was really good. The percussion ensemble was interesting to me since we're considering becoming a drumming family and all the music was really good and Christmas-y.
Lately, Isaac has been less excited about doing every wacky thing I come up with, so I was hoping that this would be really fun for him, and he sure acted like he was enjoying it during the concert. As we walked out to the car holding hands, I said "I really enjoyed that concert with you. I think that's the best mother and son date we've ever had."
Isaac said, "I don't think it was the best."
Me (hoping his "best" list is so long there just isn't room for a little concert on it) "What do you think was the best mother and son date we've ever had?"
Isaac, "We've never had a best one. Boys night out is my favorite thing. I wish we didn't even have mother and son date."
I've had boys tell me they wish they weren't dating me (not in so many words, but you know, I've gotten the message) but this one broke my heart more than any other.
I will figure out a way to win him back.
