It was time for Ikey's five-year checkup and since we all love his doctor, we didn't hesitate to go. Jovie was acting a little nuts when Doc first walked in, so Ikey said, "Some sisters get in trouble a lot. My sister is that kind." Doc said that was a good first line for a book, so maybe we'll write it one day...when Jovie is out of this phase and it's all just a funny memory.
Ikey is growing well, he's super smart, his ankles turn in a little bit, and Doc says he recognizes his cuddly and thoughtful personality from his babyhood in his big tall 5-year old self.
The little guy needed two shots. He said, "No, I'll just get the nose spray for those." Doc explained that that works for the flu, but he needs a shot to prevent the diseases that cause muscles to stop working and itchy rash and horrible cough. Ikey said, "Uh...I guess I better get those shots." He limped around for two days and said, "Mom, you didn't tell the truth about those. They didn't just hurt for a second, they hurt for DAYS. Shots are the worst."
