New York City

We love to go on vacation to New York City. I wanted to see all the Christmas festivities, so we headed out the week after Thanksgiving. Isaac travels in style on the plane. Isaac hung out at L'Esquina waiting for a taco.
It was so cold!
I always drag the crowd to the Today Show.

I also dragged TB to the Christmas Spectacular at Radio City Music Hall to see the Rockettes.
We had a wonderful time with the Laydens. Isaac got so much attention from the five girls and "uncle" Mitch that he has seemed a little bored with just TB and me since we're back home.

We walked from one fantastic dinner to the next.
We took a rainy walk to Central Park.

1st Birthday

Unfortunately, the baby didn't feel well on his first birthday, so we had to cancel his little party. He enjoyed cake for breakfast the next day though. My sisters and my friends make very fancy birthday cakes. This one is supposed to look like a snowball. I am not very fancy at cakes.
He seemed to like the cake and made a big mess like he is supposed to. TB is pretty sure that Isaac's favorite cake is chocolate with white frosting, which is TB's favorite too. I think the baby girl will like chocolate frosting like I do.

Happy Birthday Baby Boy!

Our sweet little boy is 1 year old at 9:30 this morning. We can't believe how big and smart and fun Isaac is. This has been the shortest year of our lives! Check out the June 5 post called "Happy Half Birthday" for pictures of Isaac on the 4th of his first six months. Here he is on the 4th of each month since then...

Boating around Bear Lake in July Making the cutest face at home in August
At my 15 year class reunion in Price in September
Under the table and dreaming in October
Just charming his mom at home in November
Look for a birthday cake picture later this week.
In other news... our April baby is a GIRL! We're wondering how we're going to figure out the deal with girls, and also very excited. She's so pretty already...

Thanksgiving

Because my family was flung all over the US this year and because TB had never tried a Thanksgiving away from home, we traveled to Coronado, California to spend the holiday at Pete and Dan's house with Mark and Kate and Abi. The weather was beautiful!Isaac picked and "sorted" limes.Did you know that limes turn yellow when they get old?We rode beach cruisers all over the island in a little gang. This little bike trailer carried Thanksgiving groceries the next day once the babies were out. We only left the island once, and that was for a shopping trip to Trader Joe's. We went to the beach every day.Isaac loved the sand and ate some of it and got some in his eyes. Isaac and Abi played together really well. They took turns stealing toys from each other. The team worked hard on a delicious Thanksgiving feast.I'm pretty sure we drove through Paris on the way home. It was such a long drive for one day! TB and Isaac were troopers, and I mostly just slept through it. We had a great time with good friends and lots of food. We were so glad to arrive home to cold weather and our cozy house. Doesn't he look frustrated? Isaac learned to turn around and back down the stairs while we were on vacation, so he tried that trick at home and gets upset when he doesn't get anywhere. He isn't really "stuck" in this gate, just stopped.

New tricks

Isaac loves to watch the bathtub fill up and he insists on watching it drain until it's totally empty.
Isaac's repertoir of tricks gets bigger every day.
I've been using a totally vintage baby carrier to haul the little guy around the house.

Snowy!

Isaac wanted to try out his tolerance for cold and snow, so we headed up Big Cottonwood Canyon. We had a good picnic with Isaac sitting on the table, and he seemed to like crawling around. TB and I got cold, but Isaac was toasty in his snow suit.
Isaac and I went to the Utah Olympic Park with Nikki and Dallin to cheer for the amazing athletes in the World Cup bobsled races. It was so fun! Isaac is a very daring bobsled driver and Dallin's a strong brake man.
