Baby Floats

It's hard to swim with your fingers in your mouth, but luckily Isaac is floaty.

Carrots!!?

Isaac wasn't crazy about the carrots we offered him this week, but we stuck with it and he ate the whole bottle eventually.

You can see that he's much happier about ordering crepes at the Original Pancake House.

We call this the "fat face". He was trying to eat the camera.

He's getting better at sitting up and getting cuter too if it's possible...

Isaac's funny habits

Isaac's hands are always moving. He waves them when he's happy, grabs hair or earrings or plates of food: whatever is in his reach. The funniest thing is that he "scratches" when he's relaxing or eating.

He likes to play peekaboo with blankets, bandanas, burp cloths.
He tries this during naps or when he's falling asleep at night. During a nap last week when he'd wrapped his face and head with a blanket, I decreed that he wouldn't get to sleep with blankets anymore and he only gets sleeping bags now.
He has a habit of being so cute that I've gotten in the habit of keeping my camera close. He also tends to tip over when he's supposed to be practicing sitting up.

He's always been very cheerful on the changing table.

He treats the exersaucer like it's a job and dutifully spends time at each "station".

He smiles at strangers, babbles in the morning, helps us dress him by bending or straightening arms or legs on request, giggles at my off-key singing, and livens up the whole house.

How big is baby?

Isaac recently traded up to a larger car seat and bouncer because he's too chubby for the little versions. These photos are from December 2008 and May 2009. Baby clearly is SO BIG.

Sweet new pics of Isaac

Isaac's Uncle Mikey took these adorable photos on Mother's Day. You can see that Isaac is anxiously awaiting the imminent arrival of his new cousin...
We had a great Mother's Day with TB's mom and mine, and other wonderful moms in our family.

the boy's toys

TB thinks I'm a little stingy with Isaac's toys. He says things like: "Shouldn't we give him a pacifier so he doesn't have to suck on his fingers?" or "The book says he should have a rattle." I broke down and gave Isaac two toys this month, BabyPaper and a Squish. The little guy could not be happier, unless we just left him alone with his fingers and a burp cloth to chew on.

When he's got this one, I always look around to see who's unwrapping a candy bar and hoping they'll share. Those are the kind of motherly thoughts I have. (That reference at the end should be Mr. Napkin Head ala Jude Law in The Holiday.)

He makes a little aggro face when he's got this Squish.

Who does Isaac look like?

On the left is Isaac on his five month birthday. He's so gorgeous! His grandma and I had such a fun time with him at the photo studio. He looks like the happy little red-haired leprechaun that he is. Just below is a three-month-old baby Todd. You can see that TB's been good-looking his whole life. His hair was darker than Isaac's at this age but TB was a tow-head until he was a young adult.
This is a picture of baby Aimee at about three months old with my beautiful mother. Isaac gets his red hair from his grandma and his turned up nose from me. Neither of those baby boys above have my shaggadelic '70s hair.
I love all these happy toothless baby smiles!

Mondays always get me down

... no they don't really. We usually have a good time on Mondays. Isaac just started making kissing noises.

I know TB is a little jealous of my fun days: playing with the baby and spending the money. We argued for a while about who gets to stay home with Isaac, but TB's such a good worker that I'd hate to take that away from him. Actually I should thank him a hundred times a day because I have the perfect job for me and for Isaac.

Introduction

Isaac is our little baby, and this blog will tell you funny things he does. (TB: And will give his mother something to do to fill her endless days.) We think he's so cute. He usually has his hands in his mouth. He's a very happy and patient baby, and his dad likes to say that if he's crying, he's hungry - or just showing off his incredible acting skills like in this movie:

He's a great singer.

He's just learning to roll over.

We're a very happy family and we feel lucky to have each other.
