Halloween

This cute little boy is my nephew Dallin. I made him this spider costume in 1998. The spider costume made a encore appearance on Isaac this year. The strings and extra legs really bugged him but I thought it was cute.
I made him a really big trick-or-treating bag, but he didn't actually get any candy this year.We had fun at Red Butte Garden After Dark where I made a witch's broom.
We also painted a pumpkin. That is a very puffy vest, but also it is true that I'm pregnant and not just trying to sneak out with an extra pumpkin.I've made some movies of Isaac with his favorite past times: reading and singing. He really is smart.

You'll notice that he seems to keep checking on his dad to make sure he's still reading the paper too. He makes little comments about what he's reading, just like his dad and mom. It seems like he's mostly interested in the ads, but that's because we won't give him the news sections because they get his hands too dirty.

Besides books and magazines, Isaac's favorite toy is string. He's kind of bugged that this particular string has a totally lame wooden dog attached to it. He "flosses" his teeth with the string and winds it around his neck - SCARY - so he has to be monitored with string all the time. He's so nice to smile so big when I get the camera out.

so cute...

I probably say "You are so cute!" forty times a day. I'm right every time.
This little boy looks so much like his dad. Has anyone seen TB making this face?
Isaac and his friend Cole stood at the bottom of the stairs and rattled the gate for a long time. We never did let them out of "jail".
I say "You are so smart" many times every day too. He loves books and these flashcards. He probably can read right now, but he can't talk yet, so we can't be sure.
Isaac was on a walk with TB when he struck this very thoughtful pose. They must have been discussing something philosophical.
Isaac is a crazy man in his jumper.

Moab vacation

We hiked to Corona Arch.

Our vacation to Moab was fun, but it was easier when Isaac stayed where you put him. Where's he going??!!Oh good, stop right there buddy...We rode our bikes in Canyonlands.

Such a stinker

This is the first "mess" Isaac has made. He pulled all the blankets off the shelf. It's not too big of a mess so he didn't get in too big of trouble. He's always trying to "get" something: hair, ears, wallets, cameras... He looks so cute in his new snow hat.
He's a rowdy little turtle for Halloween.
...with his pretty feline friend Sophia.

Funny Face

This little guy climbed up all the stairs today, so we installed a gate at the bottom of the stairs today.
Isaac's cousin Chloe taught him to crawl so he is all over the place!

Tomatoes from Todd

Todd built a tomato garden (with wood, nails, and dirt) and grew some great plants. We had a wonderful harvest this weekend.TB doesn't think that I spend enough time with the tomato plants. He's probably right.TB makes a sandwich with home-grown tomatoes and basil on a bagette with mozzarella and home-made vinegrette. It's one of my favorite summer meals. We took a sample of this sandwich to a bbq with the Burrows family, and everybody liked it except the tweens. Isaac was chilling with Grandma Pat and Grandpa Joe.
Isaac's been a little crazy lately. Maybe he took a "spinning" class from Doris.

Newest tricks

Isaac can dress himself...and finish a whole magazine by himself. He likes Newsweek, which is a little too left-leaning for his grandpa.
